The elderberry plant, Sambucus nigra, which can easily be recognized in spring by the striking scent of its flowers, is truly a wonder plant. Some might have heard about the elderberry juice from their grannies, some might have only had it with champagne and cucumber together. However, the fact that elderflower can do much more than just taste good is undisputed. You did not know that? We at Doris Wagner Cosmetics know all the positive, cosmetic aspects of elderflower and we will give you a small overview.
Healing Effect of Elderflower
Originally originating from North America, the elder has now even conquered the entire Alpine region, parts of Africa and India. The healing effect of the elderberry is mainly in its flowers: which are harvested between May and June, then dried and released from the stems, so that only the pure flowers remain. For those who want to save time - such dried elderflowers are also available in most pharmacies. They have a positive effect on our respiratory system and at the same time strengthen the immune system. Previously, they were also used in fever - as elderberry has a sweat-inducing and anti-inflammatory effect on our body. The tannins of the elderberry have a soothing effect and can be used for stomach upset or intestinal cramps.
Smooth Skin and Good Nerves with Elderberry
Not only do tubers contain elderberries, they also contain antioxidants and essential oils, which together with the other ingredients have an exceptionally good effect on our body and on our skin. Due to its anti-inflammatory effect, which also helps with other physical illnesses, the elder flower is ideal for the regeneration of sensitive and dry skin. Apart from that, elderflowers also have a strong cell-activating and soothing effect. This benefits our skin: it gains suppleness and elasticity, at the same time it becomes smoother.
Not only the flowers, but also the berries also have positive effects on our skin: they protect our cells and have turned out to be veritable radical scavengers. In addition, the flavonoids and phenols contained in the berries help reduce oxidative stress.
Our Tip: Try our extra mild NAVI Pure Refreshing Cleansing Gel, which, in addition to elderflowers, also comes with cucumber juice and vitamin E, making it perfect for daily facial cleansing.
Use of Elderberry: as Tea, Syrup or Gel
Elderberry tea is the first choice if you are plagued by a cold, chills or fever. Simply use 2-3 teaspoons of dried elderflower with hot water and let it steep for about 10 minutes.
Especially popular is the elderberry syrup, which is a frequently used remedy for coughing, and is often due to its good taste often enjoyed only with sparkling wine or mineral water.
However, our favorite is the use of elderflower in a washing gel, so we also use it in our NAVI Pure Refreshing Cleansing Gel, which can be used in three different ways. Either you use it directly as a gel, which also works against waterproof make-up, while the skin is still incredibly gentle, or with lukewarm water, so that a slight wash foam arises and you can massage the face at the same time or you use it with a facial cleansing brush.
No matter how you cleanse your face - the products in our innovative NAVI series from Doris Wagner Cosmetics is a great way to showcase the results.

Ich liebe Holunderblütensirup und habe den auch schon öfters selber gemacht aus unserer Staude im Garten. Als nächstes werde ich mal den Tee versuchen – das habe ich bisher noch nie probiert. Danke für den Tipp!
