HOW TREND COLORS ARE DETERMINED LONG BEFORE THEY HIT RUNWAY

A stunning 2 years ahead of a fashion seasons, the London-based International Colour Authority publishes the so called Intercolor color palette. The DMI (Deutsches Mode Institut - German Institute of Fashion) then derives a DMI Tendenzfarbkarte from this palette advising fashion designers which colors to choose from for their new designs. The French Premiére Vision trade fair for fabrics thus reduces this color chart to next season's top colors and the DMI Orderkarte is published. This is approxiamtely 1 year in advance before we see them on runways.

In conjunction with New York Fashion Week, the PANTONE Fashion Color Report provides a comprehensive overview of fashion designers’ use of color in their spring 2017 collections - this is approx. 5 months before they land in stores.

The Pantone Fashion Color Report Spring 2017 links the current 10 top colors to:

• Vitality, relaxation, the great outdoors
• Hues that surround us in nature, earthiness
